I am ashamed at the number of Ebay dealers who are passing off any old pottery as Ransburg. When this happened in the past, I would send the seller an Email stating simply that the piece wasn't Ransburg. If I knew what it was, I would tell them. I always got a polite thank you, and within a short time I would find it listed on the correct site. Because of the simple picture in Country Living and the increase in the prices of pieces because it is being "discovered", junk is being passed off as Ransburg. When I Email the seller now, I get remarks like: "so don't bid". This tells me the seller knew in advance that the piece wasn't Ransburg. Some sellers questions whether their piece is Ransburg or use the term "like Ransburg". I don't mind this, as it is buyer beware.I wish more Ransburg collectors would challenge Ebay sellers claiming their piece is Ransburg, but it isn't. Remember, this has just become accepted practice since the article appeared. |
